Sign up to Active Northumberland’s summer fitness challenge

A new summer fitness challenge is being launched by Active Northumberland to help promote wellness and inject a bit of friendly competition between their leisure centres to motivate their customers to get active and move more.

The challenge is being run throughout July and is open to members and users of the participating Active Northumberland leisure centres - Ashington, Blyth, Concordia in Cramlington, Ponteland and Wentworth Sports Centre in Hexham.

The centres will be competing against one another to see which one across the full month can gain the most MOVES. There will also be weekly individual challenges for males, females and juniors with a chance of winning weekly prizes.

To give everyone the same chance and opportunity, irrespective of age, sex and level of physical ability, Technogym have created the MOVE, a new way to measure physical activity that connects the whole community.

During the challenge, individual members will simply log into their mywellness account on Technogym equipment and track their workouts to document their MOVEs. Each participant’s MOVEs will be automatically added to their facility’s grand total and to give themselves a chance to win prizes.

The challenge is open to Active Northumberland members and casual users of the centre

Mark Warnes, Chief Executive of Active Northumberland said:

“There is nothing our Active Northumberland customers and staff like more than a good fitness challenge and some great friendly rivalry between the centres to see who can top the leader board.

“ Whatever your age or activity levels, and regardless of whether you go to the leisure centres regularly or not, we would love you to get involved. The challenge  a great way to build  up your fitness, become part of our friendly community and our staff are here to support you along the way.”

To sign up to this year’s challenge, simply speak to a fitness instructor at your participating centre or log on via the Active Wellness App.
